Morrisons has issued an urgent product recall for its popular The Best 6 Thick Cumberland Sausages (400g) due to the possible presence of small pieces of blue plastic, sparking a serious food safety warning across the UK.

The affected sausages have a use-by date of May 1, 2025, and were sold in Morrisons stores nationwide. No other products or date codes are believed to be impacted by the recall.

According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), the product poses a physical contamination risk, and consumers are strongly advised not to eat the sausages. Ingestion of plastic could lead to injury or health complications.

Customers are urged to return the affected product to any Morrisons store for a full refund, with or without a receipt. The supermarket chain has placed point-of-sale recall notices in all locations where the item was sold, informing shoppers of the issue and refund process.

This recall comes at a sensitive time for Morrisons, which recently confirmed plans to close 17 of its Daily convenience stores. The retailer, currently the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket, employs over 95,000 staff.
