'Yellowstone' creator launches new concert series at his $264 million Texas ranch

Although Texas filmmaker Taylor Sheridan is well-known advocate of cowboy culture and Texas Film Industry, he also heavily supports the country music scene. September marks the first country music festival hosted by Yellowstone inventor on his $264 million Texas property.

From noon to 11 p.m. on Sept. 13 at Sheridan’s ranch in Weatherford, Texas, Drayton Farley, Kaitlin Butts, Jackson Dean will be performing at the first “Bosque Ranch Live” concert. Sheridan’s events have included the music of all three performers.

Of course with Yellowstone, Landman, 1923, and Tulsa King, Sheridan has made country music a mainstay of his immensely popular television shows. One noteworthy performer on a Yellowstone episode is country singer Zach Bryan. With several seeing notable spikes in streaming numbers following appearances on one of his shows, “The Sheridan push” has helped promote the work of these artists.

“My career is built on the art of storytelling,” Sheridan told Billboard. “And the storytelling legacy is most vibrant in country music nowhere else. Bosque Ranch Live should be a venue where these stories may flourish and prepares the ground for more events like it to come.

The official website of Sheridan’s Texas ranch reports more unusual events scheduled for the ranch.

“Sheridan plans to elevate operations by hosting reining and cow horse reining events, film and TV shootings, concerts, music festivals, charity events and an on-going unique dining experience,” the Bosque Ranch Website adds.

With 500 capacity for the Sept. 13 event at Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch, the festival is rather exclusive. Two grades of tickets provide prospective event attendees options.

Along with a Bosque Ranch hat, a $500 ticket grants the ticketholder access to the event and grounds. The $1,500 tier levels things up and gives ticketholders something known as a Country Campfire experience—that is, the ability to spend the night in their RV with concert access. Included in the top tier are a special dinner on the evening of the concert and breakfast on the morning following the performance as well as mementos and free drinks all around.

Sheridan paid $264 million for the 600-acre Bosque Ranch in Weatherford, Texas, one of his reportedly $600 million worth of ranches. His family lives on the ranch as well as a center for film production and rodeo competition.

The director reportedly paid Paramount Network $50,000 for shooting on his ranch plus an additional $214,979 to convert his ranches into a “cowboy camp” for Yellowstone performers. To plan horse-cutting activities on the Weatherford site in 2022, Bosque Ranch teamed with many rodeo and ranching groups. The ranch has hosted the NCHA Brazos Bash and used as a filming site for multiple sequences over Yellowstone’s run as well as its spin-off 1883.

Additionally one of the main supporters of the state of Texas funding more money into its film incentive program is the novelist and former cowboy. Using the last raise in money for 2023, Sheridan moved the production of several shows—including Landman and his forthcoming series The Madison—to his own state.
