Longtime best friend reveals why Aaron Rodgers' wait to join Steelers.
Davante Adams, Rodgers' lifelong football buddy, may be the one who knows the reason as least. Adams told Mike Silver Rodgers is waiting for a team to "roll out the red carpet" for him, and he wasn't convinced the Steelers had done.
"I believe Aaron wants someone to roll out the red carpet for him," Silver remarked on a Scoop City podcast episode featuring Dianna Russini and Chase Daniel.
"That is the search he is doing. I'm not sure if he would take the Steelers' current actions into consideration. How Aaron views that or how the Steelers view that is unknown to me. The Vikings most obviously are not.
The Steelers will wait on Rodgers for now, but they have never stopped believing in Mason Rudolph. They might also turn to the NFL Draft, set for Thursday.
Although head coach Mike Tomlin, who has often visited Rodgers, indicated that a deadline might be the beginning of training camp, Rodgers made no plans for a decision and the Steelers still have not established a timeframe for Rodgers.
Rodgers mentioned on the Pat McAfee Show on Thursday that personal problems in his inner circle prevented him from committing himself to a team. He said he understands if they had to move on and that he has been contacted by all teams using him.
After they whiffed on others earlier this summer, the four-time MVP still remains the best quarterback on the market for the Steelers; yet, it's unclear how much Rodgers really wants to play for then.
