Browns Expect to Replace Deshaun Watson with Pro Bowl QB
Following his prime of career move to Cleveland, Watson has spent the past three seasons with the Browns. Originally considered as a perennial Pro Bowler in Houston, his Achilles injury in 2024 has put that discussion on wait.
Daniel Valente and Brenden Deeg at The Score say the Browns are expected to acquire Russell Wilson, who lately spent one season with their division opponent, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Wilson, who was selected a Pro Bowl quarterback last season, put 16 touchdowns and 2,482 yards with a 63.7 completion percentage. Having fallen to the Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs, he guided the Steelers toward a 10-8 record.
Watson completed 63.4% of his throw attempts, recording five touchdowns and 1,148 yards before to suffering an Achilles ailment.
The Browns had a 3-14 season ending record. Though a seasoned signal-caller may be required for Cleveland, they have also been closely linked with elite quarterback prospects like Shedur Sanders and Cam Ward in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Wilson would be a big asset to the Browns, who have been looking for quarterback consistency for years even in the later half of his NFL career.
