49ers release fullback Kyle Juszczyk
Juszczyk was right about his playing his last Niner game. A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that the 49ers dismissed Juszczyk on Monday night.
After that season-ending defeat to the Arizona Cardinals, Juszczyk, 33, informed ESPN and Schefter's source that he would play in 2025 regardless of club.
"I know I'm not done," Juszczyk remarked Jan. 5. "I'm still playing. No regression. I have no intentions to quit, particularly if you show me where I've deteriorated in the previous two games."
Juszczyk almost left the 49ers last summer before taking a salary cut. A similar arrangement was expected this summer for Juszczyk to play a tenth season in San Francisco, but it did not happen.
Juszczyk was supposed to count $6,496,750 on the 2025 salary limit and had void years through 2028 that would add $1,674,00 in 2026 when his contract expired.
After taking over in 2017, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch signed Juszczyk as a free agent.
