The official announcement, made through a tongue-in-cheek teaser video, delighted fans with its classic spoof of the Star Wars opening crawl — poking fun at Hollywood’s obsession with sequels, franchises, and cinematic universes. Mel Brooks appeared in the teaser himself, quipping, “I told you we’d be back,” as the text hilariously scrolled across a starry background: “The Schwartz Awakens in 2027.”

A Legendary Return After 40 Years

The original Spaceballs, released in 1987, was a parody masterpiece that skewered Star Wars and other sci-fi hits. It featured Bill Pullman, John Candy, Daphne Zuniga, and Rick Moranis as the unforgettable Dark Helmet. While casting for the sequel has yet to be fully confirmed, fans are hopeful for surprise returns — especially the elusive Moranis.
