Earlier in the day, Pune woke up to cloudy skies and mild drizzles in scattered areas. However, by around 4 PM, the weather turned aggressive with loud thunder, dark clouds, and heavy rainfall sweeping through the region.

Several central localities including Deccan, Shivajinagar, Karvenagar, and the Peth areas recorded significant rain. Suburban areas like Baner, Pashan, and Sus were also hit by the downpour.

The abrupt rain disrupted traffic flow and led to waterlogging in low-lying areas. Many residents were caught off guard, leading to delays and chaos during evening travel.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this is part of a broader system impacting much of Maharashtra. The department has now issued a severe rain alert for the next three hours.

The IMD has urged residents in these districts to stay indoors wherever possible and avoid traveling during intense weather. People should also remain cautious about lightning and sudden gusty winds.
