Pune, 14 May 2025 – A tragic incident unfolded on Tadiwala Road in Pune when a man sleeping in the middle of the road was run over by a speeding car. The victim, identified as Saroj Sudarshan Bishwal, a 45-year-old resident of Vadgaon Sheri and originally from Odisha, succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The accident took place late on the night of 12 May, right in front of Saurabh Hall on Tadiwala Road. According to the Bund Garden Police, an FIR has been registered against an unidentified car driver under relevant sections of the IPC for causing death by negligence.
As per police reports, Saroj Bishwal was lying asleep on the center of the road when a fast-moving car ran over him. The driver fled the scene without offering any help. Locals rushed the injured man to the hospital, but despite efforts, he died during treatment due to severe internal injuries.
Police Sub-Inspector Sandeep Khedkar has filed the complaint, and an investigation is currently underway.
Authorities have begun analyzing CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle and driver involved in the hit-and-run. The Bund Garden Police confirmed that efforts are being made to trace the absconding driver and bring them to justice.
This incident adds to the growing list of road mishaps in Pune, raising concerns about night-time driving practices and public safety. In recent months, the city has witnessed a sharp rise in hit-and-run cases, many of which involve speeding vehicles on poorly lit roads.
