Netflix has decided not to order a third season of The Recruit.
Thursday, The Hollywood Reporter learnt of the cancellation of the Noah Centineo-led espionage thriller after two seasons.
In The Recruit, Centineo portrayed CIA lawyer Owen Hendricks, who is entangled in huge international battles with hazardous parties when an asset seeks to reveal their connection to the agency.
“A bummer” was the word used by Colton Dunn, who portrayed Lester Kitchens on Threads, when asked about the show’s demise. All right, the Recruit has been canceled. How disappointing,” he wrote. I wanted you to hear it from me, but I will share some pictures and pleasant moments on Instagram. Thank you for viewing. Time is of the essence! Bring me on board for your TV story!
Season two, which debuted earlier this year, reintroduced Hendricks to the action, but this time it was in Seoul, South Korea. Along with Dunn, Aarti Mann, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Fivel Stewart, Angel Parker, Kaylah Zander, and Teo Yoo were also included in the event.
Centineo spoke candidly with THR last month about his time on set for season two. “Reuniting with the cast on a personal level was just so good,” he stated back then. They’re amazing individuals. We are very much in love with each other and spend a lot of time together off-set. It was the driving force behind the second season.
“The season moves fast,” he continued. The addition of Teo Yoo, who portrays Jang Kyun Kim, takes the action to the next level, making it a must-watch series. Doing that made me feel great, and Korea is amazing. Especially in Season 2, it becomes clear how much of an incredible new dimension it brings to the show—new colors, a lively city.
Upon its return for a second season, The Recruit quickly rose to become one of Netflix’s most popular shows. It is not immediately apparent why the program was cancelled, although renewals are usually decided on a mix of creative vision, audience satisfaction, and economics.
