June 13, 2025 — Logan Airport: A JetBlue flight arriving at Boston Logan International Airport from Chicago rolled off the runway and into a grassy area on Thursday morning, prompting emergency response and a temporary ground stop. Officials have confirmed that no injuries were reported among the passengers or crew.
The incident involved JetBlue Flight 312, which had departed from Chicago O’Hare International Airport and was landing on Runway 33L at Logan Airport when it veered off the pavement after touchdown.
Emergency Response and Ground Stop
Photos from the scene showed multiple fire trucks and emergency vehicles surrounding the aircraft, an Airbus A220, as passengers deplaned using portable staircases. They were later transported to the terminal by bus, according to the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport).
Massport confirmed that the runway was immediately closed for safety assessments and that crews were dispatched to examine the aircraft and its path.
Due to the incident, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground stop for departures out of Logan Airport, which remained in place until approximately 2 p.m. The FAA also confirmed it will be conducting a full investigation into the cause of the runway excursion.
No Cause Immediately Known
As of Friday morning, it remains unclear what caused the aircraft to roll off the runway. Weather conditions at the time were reported to be stable, though officials have not ruled out mechanical or procedural factors.
The safety protocols in place were executed swiftly, ensuring passengers were removed from the aircraft without injury. Logan Airport operations gradually resumed after runway clearance and assessment.
