Hailee Steinfeld, the voice of Gwen Stacy in Sony’s Oscar-winning Spider-Verse franchise, has offered fans a long-awaited update on Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse while promoting her provocative new role in Ryan Coogler’s horror film Sinners.

‘Beyond the Spider-Verse’: Trusting the Process

In a recent interview with MTV’s Josh Horowitz, Steinfeld confirmed she’s deep into recording lines for the trilogy’s finale. “We’re well into that thing,” she teased, emphasizing her faith in the creative team. “If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s to trust the process. You put it in their hands, and you’ll end up with something masterful.”

The film, directed by Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, picks up after Across the Spider-Verse’s cliffhanger, which left Miles Morales stranded in an alternate universe. Gwen Stacy leads a ragtag team—including fan favorites like Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya) and Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac)—to rescue him.

Originally slated for March 2024, the sequel was delayed to June 4, 2027, with producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller citing the need to “get it just right.” At CinemaCon, Lord revealed the stakes: “Miles is a fugitive hunted by every Spider-Hero. Gwen and his friends may or may not save him… and the entire multiverse.”

Why the Wait?

The delay follows reports of behind-the-scenes challenges during Across the Spider-Verse, including grueling deadlines for animators. Lord defended the decision: “We couldn’t run it back. This finale deserves the biggest screens and most ambitious animation yet.”

Steinfeld’s return as Gwen Stacy anchors the ensemble, which includes Shameik Moore (Miles Morales), Jake Johnson (Peter B. Parker), and Issa Rae (Jessica Drew).

Steinfeld’s Bold Leap into Horror with ‘Sinners’

While fans await Beyond the Spider-Verse, Steinfeld is turning heads in Sinners, a horror thriller directed by Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) and starring Michael B. Jordan. The role marks a stark departure for the actress, known for roles in Hawkeye and Arcane.

In a newsletter to fans, Steinfeld called the project “a massive undertaking,” adding, “This role mirrors my growth—stepping into my own as I get older.” She praised Coogler’s “complex, layered script” and admitted, “I was honored to even be considered.”

Trailers showcase Steinfeld in a darker, more daring light—a far cry from her heroic Spider-Gwen.

What’s Next for Steinfeld?

  • Marvel’s Hawkeye: While her MCU future as Kate Bishop remains uncertain (she was notably absent from Avengers: Doomsday’s cast reveal), rumors persist about a Hawkeye Season 2.
  • Music & More: Beyond acting, Steinfeld continues to balance her music career, recently dropping singles like “Coast” with Anderson.Paak.

Why Fans Should Care?
Steinfeld’s dual roles in 2027—voicing an iconic superhero and starring in a Coogler-directed thriller—highlight her versatility. As she told Horowitz, “Trust the process. The wait will be worth it.”
