Stimulus Check 2025: As June 2025 begins, millions of Americans are wondering: Will there be another stimulus check this year? With rising inflation, political shifts, and economic uncertainty, the idea of a fourth stimulus check continues to trend on social media—but here’s the real update.
No New Stimulus Checks Approved for June 2025
As of now, there are no official plans from the federal government to issue new stimulus checks in June 2025. The IRS has not confirmed any additional payments, and no new legislation has passed through Congress authorizing a fourth round of Economic Impact Payments.
The most recent stimulus—the third check of up to $1,400—was issued under the American Rescue Plan between March and December 2021. The deadline to claim that payment, through the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit, was April 15, 2025.
Even if you had a tax filing extension, you still needed to submit your 2021 tax return by that date to qualify. Those who missed it can no longer claim the payment, and the funds will revert back to the U.S. Treasury.
What About the Trump-Backed DOGE Stimulus Plan?
Speculation about a $5,000 stimulus check proposal tied to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—a Trump-era initiative to reduce federal spending—continues to circulate.
The concept, dubbed the “DOGE Dividend,” was originally floated by investor James Fishback and supported in theory by former President Donald Trump during a summit in February 2025.
According to Fishback’s proposal, 20% of any federal savings generated by DOGE—estimated to reach $2 trillion by 2026—would be returned to taxpayers in the form of refund checks. That would equal $5,000 per household, with the rest used to pay down national debt.
However, as of June 2025, the DOGE plan has not been approved by Congress, nor has the IRS announced any mechanism for distributing such payments.
While the Department of Government Efficiency claims to have saved $175 billion so far, only about $70 billion in itemized savings have been published, leading to skepticism about the transparency and feasibility of the program.
Watch Out for Stimulus CheckScams
With ongoing rumors about new payments, the IRS and consumer protection agencies are urging Americans to be cautious of misinformation and online fraud.
No official agency is currently issuing new stimulus checks, and any messages suggesting you can “claim now” may be scams. Always verify announcements through irs.gov or trusted news outlets.
What You Can Still Expect in June
While no federal stimulus checks are scheduled, regular IRS tax refunds are still being processed. If you filed your 2024 tax return by the April deadline and included direct deposit information, your refund may arrive within 21 days of IRS acceptance. Paper check refunds may take up to 6–8 weeks.
To track your refund status, visit the IRS’s “Where’s My Refund?” tool at irs.gov/wheres-my-refund.
Despite rumors and proposals, no fourth stimulus check or DOGE dividend is coming in June 2025. Unless Congress passes new legislation or the White House formally introduces a verified plan, Americans should not expect new direct payments from the government.
