Authorities responded to a call on June 14 in Landers, California, where deputies arrived to find Elijah being assessed by emergency medical personnel. Deputies also discovered drugs at the residence. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Elijah’s estranged wife, singer Marieangela King, has spoken out in support of him despite their separation. “He continues to confront his inner struggles from a place of strength, not defeat,” she said in a statement. “My support is steadfast and comes from deep respect for the person he is and the resilience he shows.”

Cher has been vocal about her complex relationship with Elijah. In a 2004 interview, she described it as “bizarre,” noting that their communication often felt like “osmosis.” Despite the challenges, she has remained active in his life, even filing for conservatorship over his estate in late 2023.

The conservatorship filing came amid concerns over Elijah’s alleged substance use and mental health issues. Cher claimed he was at risk of spending his trust fund on drugs, which could endanger his life. However, the petition was voluntarily dismissed in September 2024 after a private agreement was reached.

The family has dealt with multiple legal and emotional challenges in recent years. During divorce proceedings, Marieangela King accused Cher of hiring four men to remove Elijah from a New York hotel—allegations Cher firmly denied.

Despite the public scrutiny and personal battles, Elijah’s wife maintains that he is committed to sobriety and living with purpose. “He is grounded, focused, and loyal to those he loves,” she said.

Elijah, known professionally as P. Exeter Blue, is also recognized for his role in the metal band Deadsy. He is Cher’s youngest son and has four half-siblings from Gregg Allman’s other relationships.

The incident has once again highlighted the toll of mental health and substance issues—even within families in the public eye. Cher’s unwavering stance reflects the depth of a mother’s concern.
