EaseMyTrip’s Nishant Pitti Urges Indians to Boycott Chinese Endorsements, Prioritise National Interest

New Delhi, May 15, 2025 – EaseMyTrip co-founder Nishant Pitti has sparked a debate by calling on Indians to stop promoting or using Chinese-owned apps and products. In a recent X post, he argued that “national interest > personal convenience or profit”, urging everyone to switch to home-grown alternatives.

Just days earlier, Pitti had asked travellers to avoid Turkey and Azerbaijan because of their open support for Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. He pointed out that China—notorious for supplying military hardware to Pakistan—has also shielded Islamabad from UN sanctions against terror groups.

“What about websites owned by Chinese firms? What about celebrities promoting Chinese products?” Pitti wrote. “Our choices answer these questions. Stop using those sites. Boycott those endorsements.”

Backing his stance with hard numbers, he reminded followers that every rupee spent abroad is a vote. Last year, nearly 2.9 lakh Indians visited Turkey and 2.4 lakh went to Azerbaijan—tourism that contributes up to 12% of Turkey’s GDP and 7.6% of Azerbaijan’s.

Pitti’s message resonated widely on social media. Many users shared screenshots of them deleting Chinese apps or switching to Indian-made services. But some Bollywood figures who endorse global brands have yet to react.

As India and Pakistan observe a tentative ceasefire, Pitti’s call to “walk the talk” reflects a growing push for economic self-reliance and solidarity—one app uninstall at a time.
