DWP June 2025 Payments: State Pension, Universal Credit Increases, and What Claimants Need to Know

DWP June 2025 Payments: The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is rolling out a crucial series of payments throughout June 2025, including the first full month of increased Universal Credit for millions across the UK — just as households continue to battle high living costs.

Thanks to a 1.7% benefits uprating announced earlier this year, Universal Credit claimants are now beginning to see their higher monthly payments, which took effect from April 7. Due to the system’s assessment period structure, many recipients are only now receiving the updated amounts.

Universal Credit: Who gets more and when?

The increases affect all standard allowance categories:

  • Single under 25: Now £311.68 (up from £306.60)
  • Single 25+: Now £393.45 (up from £387.00)
  • Couples under 25: Now £489.23 (up from £481.00)
  • Couples 25+: Now £617.60 (up from £607.40)

The updated payments apply only to assessment periods starting on or after April 7. Claimants whose periods began before this date received old rates in May and are now receiving the revised amounts in June.

State Pension and Benefit Payment Dates for June

All major state pensions and DWP benefits will be paid as scheduled in June, with no UK bank holidays disrupting the calendar this month.

Universal Credit Migration Deadline Approaches

As part of the benefits overhaul, Universal Credit continues to replace six older benefits. DWP aims to complete this transition by March 2026, with remaining ESA recipients to be contacted by September 2025.

This month’s updates represent a significant milestone for benefit recipients in 2025, especially those struggling with the continued pressures of inflation and rising household bills.

The DWP’s streamlined payment schedules and increased support aim to ease those burdens — but claimants are urged to stay informed and check their award details regularly.
