Daniil Medvedev Sets Sights on Semifinals as He Prepares to Face Reilly Opelka at Libema Open

’s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands | June 13, 2025 — World No. 11 Daniil Medvedev is gearing up for a high-stakes quarterfinal clash against American Reilly Opelka on Friday at the ATP Libema Open. The match marks Medvedev’s 82nd career tour-level quarterfinal and his 12th on grass, as he looks to build momentum heading into the heart of the grass court season.

The Russian star advanced after a gritty win over longtime rival Adrian Mannarino in straight sets, 7-6(6), 6-4. Despite a slow start that saw him drop serve in the opening game, Medvedev saved two set points in the tiebreak and never looked back. With the victory, he now holds a 5-4 head-to-head edge over Mannarino and has leveled their meetings in ’s-Hertogenbosch at 2-2.

“Matches with Adrian are always physical and mentally draining,” Medvedev said after the win. “Neither of us can hit easy winners off each other, so it turns into a cat-and-mouse battle.”

Next up, Medvedev faces big-serving Opelka, who advanced after defeating Chile’s Nicolas Jarry 7-6(5), 6-3. The American, entering the draw as a lucky loser, poses a very different challenge with his power game and dominant serve on grass.

According to predictive models run by Dimers, Medvedev enters the match as the clear favorite, with a 71% probability of winning based on 10,000 simulations. He also holds a 66% chance of taking the first set. Betting markets in the U.S. reflect this outlook, with Medvedev listed at -357 on the moneyline and Opelka at +275.

While Medvedev brings finesse and consistency, Opelka will look to disrupt rhythm with his aggressive, serve-heavy style. The two last met on hard courts, but this will be their first encounter on grass—an unpredictable surface that could tilt the match in either direction.

The match is scheduled to begin at approximately 9:10 a.m. ET on Friday, June 13.
