iOS 26: Apple has unveiled iOS 26 at WWDC 2025, marking a significant leap from iOS 18 directly to iOS 26. This shift aligns with Apple’s strategy to match its software versioning with the 2026 calendar year.
The new operating system brings a host of exciting features, including a sleek “Liquid Glass” design, which is considered the biggest update since iOS 7.
What’s New in iOS 26?
The design of iOS 26 has been revamped with softer, rounded icons and a cleaner interface. Major updates have also been made to Siri, with plans to integrate Google’s Gemini AI, making it more intelligent and intuitive. In addition to Siri, Apple has enhanced AI features such as writing tools, Image Playground, and Genmoji, focusing on providing smarter and more personalized experiences for users.
AI-Powered Battery Optimization
One of the standout features of iOS 26 is its new AI-driven battery management system.
This on-device AI learns your usage habits and optimizes battery consumption accordingly, ensuring longer battery life based on your needs. This feature is especially beneficial for newer, thinner devices like the iPhone 17 Air.
iOS 26 will be available for iPhone 17, 16, 15, 14, 13 series, and iPhone SE (2020 and later) models. Apple plans to release a beta version of iOS 26 in July 2025, with users able to download it through their settings after backing up their data.
