Broadcom (AVGO) Stock Hits Record High Ahead of Earnings, Fueled by AI Momentum

AVGO Stock: Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGO) continues to ride the AI wave, with its stock reaching an all-time high this week as investors gear up for the company’s highly anticipated fiscal Q2 earnings report.

Shares of the semiconductor giant have surged nearly 30% over the past month, thanks in part to revived enthusiasm for AI-related stocks following Nvidia’s blockbuster results.

On Tuesday, Broadcom rose more than 3% after announcing the shipment of its next-gen Tomahawk 6 switch chips, designed to supercharge data center performance and energy efficiency—key requirements in the booming AI infrastructure market.

The Tomahawk 6 is being hailed as Broadcom’s most powerful chip to date, capable of doubling bandwidth over previous generations. The move has drawn strong early interest from industry players, positioning Broadcom as a leader in high-speed, AI-driven data infrastructure solutions.

Wall Street is now focused on Broadcom’s earnings report, set for release after the market closes on Thursday. Analysts expect the company to post earnings of $1.57 per share on revenue of nearly $15 billion, according to FactSet estimates.

Options markets are pricing in a post-earnings move of about 6.4% in either direction—modest compared to Broadcom’s average post-earnings swing of nearly 14% over the past year. That would mark the smallest earnings reaction since December 2023.

Despite the record rally, some analysts remain cautious. Of 14 analysts tracked by Visible Alpha, 13 rate AVGO a “buy” and one remains neutral. However, the average price target of $251.70 is slightly below its current price of $256.85, suggesting limited short-term upside.

Meanwhile, valuation tools like GuruFocus estimate a fair value closer to $150.22, implying the stock may be overextended. Still, the broader trend in AI investment and cloud infrastructure gives Broadcom long-term growth potential, especially with its leadership in Ethernet switch technology.

With investors closely watching earnings and future guidance, Broadcom’s ability to maintain momentum in the AI hardware race could determine its next move on the charts.
