DWP Cost of Living 2025: Payments Available for UK Households – Check If You Qualify Before July


DWP COST OF LIVING 2025 PAYMENT — Thousands of households across the UK could receive up to £300 in cost of living support this June and July, with payments aimed at easing the pressure of rising food and energy costs.

The help comes from the Household Support Fund, which has been extended through March 2026 by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

You don’t need to be on benefits to qualify. Local councils decide how to distribute the funds, meaning eligibility rules and payment amounts vary by area.

Who Can Get It?

In Doncaster, households with three or more children can receive £300, while those with one or two children may get £100–£200 if they receive Child Benefit.

Doncaster is also offering £100 energy support payments to households on Universal Credit (with housing element), Council Tax reduction, Housing Benefit, or means-tested free school meals.

Calderdale Council is providing up to £85, with households with children or disabilities getting the highest amount.

Manchester City Council is paying £130 to households receiving Council Tax Support and a disability benefit like PIP or DLA.

  • Food payments: Expected around 15 July 2025
  • Energy payments: Expected around 15 December 2025

If you’ve received Household Support Fund payments before and your situation hasn’t changed, you may get payments automatically. Just make sure your bank details are up to date.

No Benefits? You Might Still Qualify

According to the UK government, the support is available to anyone struggling to pay for essentials, not just those on benefits. Your council may also provide support through local charities or limit applications to one per household annually.
