Davante Adams Reveals Aaron Rodgers’ Private Reaction to Brutal Jets Exit

Former Teammates, Still Close Friends

Despite going their separate ways once again this offseason, Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams have remained as close as ever. Their on-field connection defined the Green Bay Packers’ offense for years, and even after parting ways professionally, the two have stayed tight behind the scenes.

Following a disastrous 2024 season, both Rodgers and Adams found themselves let go by the New York Jets. While Adams quickly signed a new deal with the Los Angeles Rams, reuniting with veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford, Rodgers remains unsigned — his future in the NFL still hanging in the balance.

The Meeting That Ended It All

Recently, Adams shed light on the emotional fallout from Rodgers’ final meeting with the Jets, a moment that officially marked the end of his brief and rocky tenure in New York. Speaking with Michael Silver of The Athletic, Adams shared details about a conversation he had with Rodgers immediately following the meeting.

The two had met for a couple of rounds of golf in New York — once before and once after the fateful discussion between Rodgers and Jets leadership. Adams recounted how, after the meeting, Rodgers was clearly frustrated and disappointed.

“He hit me and said, ‘I’m not coming back, bro,’” Adams recalled.
“He was clearly upset and told me, ‘This was horrible; they just disrespected me totally.’”

A Blunt Goodbye From the Jets

Initially, Adams admitted he thought Rodgers might be exaggerating the situation, as the two friends often joke and speak dramatically. But Rodgers’ tone made it clear that the meeting had genuinely struck a nerve.

Adams went on to explain that new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey had delivered the message to Rodgers in a surprisingly straightforward manner.

“I was shocked, man,” Adams said.
“I didn’t think anyone had the guts to hit him with something like that. Just straight up: ‘Yeah, we’re going another way.’”

Rodgers Felt Disrespected

Rodgers had already hinted at this dissatisfaction during his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, where he criticized the Jets for flying him to their facility only to hold what he described as a 15-minute meeting. According to Rodgers, the team had clearly decided his fate before he even arrived, and the brief conversation only deepened his sense of being disrespected.

The Jets have yet to publicly comment on the situation and seem to be moving forward under new leadership, leaving behind the hopes they once pinned on Rodgers.

What’s Next for Rodgers and Adams?

As of now, Rodgers remains a free agent. At 41 years old, his future in professional football is uncertain, with many wondering whether the end of his Jets chapter might also mark the end of his storied NFL career.

Davante Adams, meanwhile, has embarked on a fresh start with the Los Angeles Rams and is looking forward to catching passes from Matthew Stafford. Despite being on different teams, the bond between Adams and Rodgers remains strong — a friendship built on years of trust, both on and off the field.
